Great news for everyone who loves The Kissing Booth — the release date has finally been announced.
In a summer movies trailer, Netflix detailed many exciting projects on the horizon, including a release date for Addison Rae’s forthcoming He’s All That remake (August 27!). They also included Zoom footage of The Kissing Booth stars Joey King and Joel Courtney watching a tiny snippet of their movie — featuring the pair jumping off a cliff into the ocean.
“My gosh dude that was so cool,” Joey exclaims. Joel agrees, “I got so excited, I ate 11 churros.” To which Joey responds with emphasis, ”Eight. 11.” Yep, that means the final installment of The Kissing Booth series (for now) will premiere on Netflix on August 11.
Joey had previously mentioned the film would be coming this summer, when accepting a People’s Choice Award for her role as Elle Evans. “I am so excited, I wish it was tomorrow! I really, really wish it was tomorrow! Thank you guys so much! Thank you for loving this movie, and loving this character as much as I do,” she said at the time.
The announcement comes along with a new photo, showing Jacob Elordi, Joey, Joel, and Meganne Young (Rachel) by the pool together. The movie will likely resolve the fundamental cliffhanger of the second movie: Where will Elle go to college?
“[The Kissing Booth 3] is the culmination of this coming of age story — not just for Elle, but for Noah and Lee, as well,” director Vince Marcello told Variety. “Although their paths are entwined, each has their own journey with a set of challenges that they need to overcome before closing the chapter of their lives that was adolescence and beginning their new journey into adulthood.”
