Joey King, Nick Jonas & Lily Collins Star in Apple’s ‘Calls’

Joey King, Nick Jonas and Lily Collins star in the Apple TV+ upcoming series.

The superstar-filled cast also includes Nicholas Braun, Clancy Brown, Rosario Dawson, Mark Duplass, Karen Gillan, Judy Greer, Paul Walter Hauser, Danny Huston, Riley Keough, Stephen Lang, Jaeden Martell, Paola Nuñez, Pedro Pascal, Edi Patterson, Aubrey Plaza, Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jennifer Tilly.

Calls is described as a groundbreaking, immersive television experience based on the buzzy French series of the same name, masterfully using audio and minimal abstract visuals to tell nine bone-chilling, short-form stories.

The series is directed by Fede Álvarez, and each episode follows a darkly dramatic mystery that unfolds through a series of seemingly average, unconnected phone conversations that quickly become surreal as the characters lives are thrown into growing disarray.

PEOPLE can exclusively unveil the first trailer for the new spin-off season of the Emmy-nominated baking series, Nailed It! Double Trouble, premiering March 26 on Netflix.

Hosted by Nicole Byer and Jacques Torres once again, the new season will feature a massive twist: For the first time ever, home bakers will pair up in teams of two to take a shot at recreating edible masterpieces for a $10,000 prize and the coveted “nailed it” trophy.

Among the contestants this season is actress Joey King, who will partner with one of her sisters as they attempt to beat out the other duos in the high-stakes competition.

“From best buds to brothers and sisters, these bakers are twice as bad,” Netflix’s logline for the new season reads. “This season, we go far and wide for inspiration, ranging from delicious baked treats inspired by Greek mythology to sugary desserts from dear old Grandma.”

Nailed It! premiered its first season in 2018 with solo bakers giving their best shot at creating some unforgettable desserts. There have been an additional three regular seasons of the show released, as well as two holiday-themed seasons.

The show has been nominated for three Emmy Awards, twice for outstanding competition program in 2019 and 2020 and once for outstanding host for Byer.

Crew Member Tests Positive for COVID on Brad Pitt Thriller ‘Bullet Train’

Cast and crew members were sent home this week due to a coronavirus scare on the Los Angeles set of “Bullet Train,” the upcoming Brad Pitt action-thriller.

The move was made after an asymptomatic crew person tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with union protocol and out of an abundance of caution, the handful of cast and crew who had contact with the crew member went home and continued to be tested. Pitt was one of the cast members who had been in contact with the crew member.

However, there have been no additional positive test results at this point, insiders say. A source confirmed that Pitt has tested negative multiple times and was one of the members of the group who was sent home. Production on the film is continuing uninterrupted.

A spokesperson for Pitt declined to comment.

“Bullet Train” is directed by David Leitch, who oversaw “John Wick” and “Atomic Blonde.” Its cast includes Joey King, Andrew Koji, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz, Lady Gaga, Michael Shannon and Logan Lerman. The film centers on five assassins who find themselves on a Japanese bullet train.

Hollywood has spent a great deal of money developing safety protocols with an eye towards resuming shooting on movies and television shows during the pandemic. However, it has been difficult to keep sets entirely free from COVID-19. Major studio productions such as “The Batman” shut down after its star Robert Pattinson tested positive and lower budget movies such as Netflix’s “The Harder They Fall” with Idris Elba also had a COVID-19 related shutdown.

Joey King reveals The Kissing Booth 3 is premiering summer 2021

Kissing Booth fans are winning big on Sunday — the franchise’s star, Joey King, nabbed Comedy Movie Star of 2020 at the 2020 People’s Choice Awards tonight, and during her acceptance speech, she revealed that The Kissing Booth 3 will be out in summer 2021.

The second film in the popular rom-com series, which also starred Jacob Elordi, premiered this July on Netflix. It was shot at the same time as its sequel in South Africa, which meant the cast and crew were mostly unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic that’s shut down or delayed much of Hollywood.

King previously revealed The Kissing Booth would be coming next year in a special fan event for the streamer, along with the fact that the entire cast would be returning for the third movie. The occasion was also attended by King’s costars Joel Courtney, Elordi, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Meganne Young, and director Vince Marcello.

The Kissing Booth films are based on the self-published Beth Reekles novels that follow the life of high school student Elle Evans (King). In the first two installments, she meets, falls for, and dates high school jock Noah (Elordi). The third installment tackles Elle’s challenges in deciding where she will attend college. She’s been accepted to both Harvard — the same school Noah will attend — and Berkeley, where BFF Lee (Young) has matriculated. Where will she go?

In a sneak peek from the third movie that Netflix released in July, Elle hangs up a call from the Harvard Admissions Office (becoming probably the first person in history to do so) while lounging at the pool with Noah and her friends.

At the People’s Choice Awards on Sunday, Jennifer Lopez took home the People’s Icon Award, while other top honors went to Tiffany Haddish in Like A Boss for Female Movie Star of 2020 and Grey’s Anatomy for the Show of 2020.
